Beginner Workouts for the Gym

workouts Jan 02, 2022
This post is for anyone who wants a new gym routine and doesn't know where to start!

Being new to the gym can be overwhelming and intimidating.  Yes, there are many plans available online, but how do you know where to start?

I have created a plan that will help you gain confidence in the gym while building strength and creating that definition that you want to see.

One of the best ways to get started is by using machines.  They are designed so that you cannot do the move incorrectly.  At planet fitness, each machine also has a QR code to scan to show you how to use the machine.

I used to be that person who would tell myself, if I don't have at least an hour to work out, then I am not even going to try.

What a load of 💩

Those were the times when I had much more free time on my hands... I don't have that these days and I have learned that I can kick my own butt in less than 30 minutes if I have to.

The key is focus and having a plan.

Focus. Knowing what you are going to do and how you are going to do it. This is not the time to try a new IG workout you saw someone do. This is the time to break out old faithful moves that you know are challenging and get your heart rate up.

Have a plan of what you are going to do before you walk in the door.  This will avoid the decision overload of trying to pick something at the moment.  You are also more effective when you have a laid-out plan of what to do and how to do it.

Here are 4 workouts for the gym These were designed with the planet fitness layout in mind, but can be done at any gym.  If your goal is to tone up and see some definition I would aim for 12-15 reps for each exercise.

Let me know if you have questions or give this a try!  I'd love to hear how it went!
